Here's a great article that addresses some tools for transitioning into a raw food lifestyle: “5 Ways to Get Faster Results From Your Raw Food Diet" by Frederic Patenaude
http://www.fredericpatenaud...

Re: Interview with Philip McCluskey, our newest WLIR team member

Thanks Bell!

Re: Interview with Philip McCluskey, our newest WLIR team member

It didn't happen over night.. but for me having excessive nuts didn't just feel good after awhile. I also was meditating and listening to my body. My body wisdom was clearly speaking "slow down" to me when it comes to the fats. I agree, high fats are not good long term, but I was more interested in staying raw that being "perfect" according to someone else's rules at the time. In the end... everyones body is different!

Re: Interview with Philip McCluskey, our newest WLIR team member

Philip, your story is so fascinating. That really shows the power of raw foods. What struck me were 2 things:
1 The fact that initially you went the high fat route, and that you got hardly any detox because of that. Fats are known to slow down detox.
2 The fact that eventually you naturally lowered your intake of fats, first by 'forgetting the avocado's for some days, then for some weeks, and then reducing your intake of nuts'. This is exactly what Alissa promised us when she inspired us to go raw some years ago, that our instincts would kick in eventually to tell us what the body needs. This did not work for me! My instinct did not kick in, so what is you secret? True, we never experienced any detox, but we also never experienced the expected long term health benefits. I really believe that the high fat route will not be healthy long term, so recently I embarked on a high fruit/low fat diet (not by instinct, but being inspired by Frederic Patenaude's information in the Free Online Mini-Course "Health & Energy With The Raw Vegan Diet", see http://www.fredericpatenaud... if you are interested) and only now after some weeks on hardly any overt fats I am no longer craving fatty foods like oils, nuts and seeds. I needed to make that conscious decision, but you did it instinctively, I am intrigued as to why it worked for you, while it did not work for me?

Re: Interview with Philip McCluskey, our newest WLIR team member

Philip: you look amazing, and I'm so glad you followed your gut instinct!

ps. you have a sexy voice!

Re: Interview with Philip McCluskey, our newest WLIR team member

This was an awesome interview, Philip made a lot of great points, I especially like the point about not trying to adhere to a raw food plan implemented by a raw food guru but rather listen to ones own intuition and eating as the body dictates. I am making that raw transition and found myself conflicted with all the various recommendations on how to go raw. It’s also really inspiring to see how one could just give up a lifestyle of the Standard American Diet and be 100% content with it. The interviews are one of my favorite features of this site, thanks Dhru and Philip for this!!

Re: Interview with Philip McCluskey, our newest WLIR team member

Congratulations on being the new welikeitraw addition - you deserve it!
Great interview, honest through and though, wonderful.

Re: Interview with Philip McCluskey, our newest WLIR team member

Philip,
Thank you for this wonderful interview. There are so many of us who found raw food to be the answer to real living. The SAD(Standard American Diet) was what we all grew up with and It was all that we knew. Our whole lives have been focused around(SAD) food and it is just as addictive as drugs and alcohol. It is so nice to be able to take life back the way it was meant to be.

Tuliza

Re: Interview with Philip McCluskey, our newest WLIR team member

Hi Philip, This was a great interview and very inspiring. I can tell by your answers how excited you are about raw foods and being healthy. Yes, this is a new welcomed and excepted way of eating that is catching on and a way of the future....I just wish the powers that be would hold onto the farm lands and stop replacing them with townhouses!.God bless you on your journey to good health.

Re: Interview with Philip McCluskey, our newest WLIR team member

Wow Philip, you really can talk.
