i'd like to share that i just went to borboleta for the first time yesterday.
virginia was there, served us herself. it's tiny and gorgeous inside, plum, soft green and burnished gold.

the menu is short, just five items, but they are SOLID.
i had the cabbage leaf fajitas. they were so good we shed some tears.
the lasagna was intensely savory. we had a friend completely new to
raw food there, and he was expecting the subtlety of cucumber in whatever he tried.
he was blown away by the flavor. the macaroons were pleasantly lightly salty and macadamia laced- i couldn't help thinking they would be insanely good
with some dried mango added in.

we then drove up the street to check out the whole foods raw cafe. it has been moved into the produce section! (i guess about a year ago-) it shares space with other vegan prepared cooked foods- all clearly labeled. they have an impressive wall of raw prep items that aren't part of the "deli".
we split 3 desserts in the sun of the upper deck seating area. i'm pretty sure i could live in the downtown austin whole foods.
there's a local dallas company- hail merry, that makes the most amazing chocolate tart, "the miracle tart". it will blow your mind if you get a chance to try it, so seek it out!

Talk about small world. I just stumbled upon your site the other day. I come back and find a post about a restaurant that I read a review about two seconds ago written by the owner of the local organic grocery delivery company who supplies Borboleta (and myself) with delicious veggies! Definitely have to try this place out soon.

This is awesome because I may be going to Austin sometime soon. Hmm anybody know where Timpone's Market is? I think that's in Austin as well. Great post Dhru! This stuff is makin me hungry man!

Thanks for the scoop, Dhrumil! I adore Austin and this new raw hotspot makes the city that much more appealing! Can't wait to check it out. Virginia looks like the dark-locked Sarma of the South!

Yes! ;) I was there this year. We had a really good carrot/tomato soup, some curried sprouted lentil salad and curried cauliflower. All very good! Maybe they've improved since the last time you were there? I think my mom posted some pics recently...let's see if I can find them..

I went to the Whole Foods Live Food bar a few years ago. Not the biggest fan.

That's so exciting! Now you Austinites have the Whole Foods raw bar, The Daily Juice Cafe and Borboleta! I am pretty jealous--I don't think we have even one raw restaurant in Cleveland. I might have to visit Austin more often! :)
